KNOKOO-Standard Oil Absorbent Filter Media

KNOKOO-Standard Oil Absorbent Filter Media

2025-12-30

I. Product Overview

The Standard Oil Absorbent Filter Media is specifically designed to capture and adsorb oil-based airborne contaminants, including oil mist, oil vapor, and oily particulate matter. It is manufactured from highly oleophilic fibers that efficiently separate and retain oil particles, preventing oil contamination from adhering to downstream equipment.

By effectively blocking oil pollutants at the source, the media significantly reduces wear on subsequent filters and extends their service life. With built-in flame-retardant and corrosion-resistant properties, it is an ideal filtration material for industrial oil mist purification and oil fume treatment applications.

II. Core Materials & Manufacturing Process

  • Fiber Matrix
The filter media is produced from modified polypropylene (PP) or glass fiber as the base material. A gradient pore structure is employed to create a dual-function system combining high-efficiency oil adsorption and secure oil retention, ensuring that absorbed oil contaminants remain firmly locked within the media without secondary leakage.

  • Oleophilic & Hydrophobic Surface Layer
The surface is treated with a specialized chemical modification process that delivers strong oil affinity and water repellency. This allows the media to preferentially and rapidly adsorb oil-based substances while effectively repelling water, preventing oil–water mixing that could otherwise lead to filtration failure and ensuring stable adsorption performance.

III. Key Performance Advantages

  1. High Oil Absorption Capacity
The media can absorb 10–15 times its own weight in oil (actual absorption varies depending on oil viscosity). Oil mist interception efficiency reaches ≥90%, enabling rapid purification of oil-contaminated air.

  2. Resistance to Oil Hardening & Clogging
The fiber structure remains loose and resilient. Even after reaching oil saturation, it resists hardening and blockage, effectively extending service life and reducing replacement frequency.

  3. Excellent Chemical Resistance
The material is resistant to common oily substances such as lubricating oils, cutting fluids, and animal or vegetable oils, with no risk of fiber degradation or shedding. It is suitable for a wide range of industrial oil-contaminated environments.

  4. Environmentally Friendly & Recyclable
Once saturated, the oil absorbent media can be disposed of through controlled incineration (high calorific value enables energy recovery) or processed via professional recycling and purification systems for reuse. This significantly reduces hazardous waste generation and aligns with environmental sustainability requirements.

IV. Maintenance & Usage Guidelines

1. Replacement Criteria

The absorbent media should be replaced promptly when oil coverage exceeds 80% of the surface area or when the total weight increases to three times the original weight, ensuring consistent and effective filtration performance.

2. Usage Restrictions

  • Not suitable for use in strong acid or strong alkali environments.

  • Not intended for absorbing water-soluble liquids such as alcohols or emulsions, as this may lead to material failure or safety hazards.
